Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has said that his decision to approach a Federal High Court in Abuja two weeks ago stopped the federal government from transferring N12billion meant for the state to the government of Abia State.
This is as the governor has promised to renovate damaged stalls of the Port Harcourt New Layout Market gutted by fire on Tuesday night as well as compensate traders who were affected by the inferno.

Speaking on the issue in Port Harcourt, Governor Amaechi said, “I went to court two weeks ago to stop the federal government from taking our N12billion to Abia State. If I didn’t do that, they (federal government) would have taken our money to Abia State.”
